Memorial Day Here in U.S.

Memorial Day Here in U.S.

It’s Memorial Day here in the United States, a federal holiday that typically marks the start of the summer season of vacations, barbecues, pool openings, etc.  But, of course, it was instituted for a very different purpose!

Memorial Day is, by definition, a time to honor and remember the men and women who have died serving in the armed forces.  It’s grown and expanded a bit to include honoring any veterans etc. which is always a good thing.  But, I think it’s important to remember the true meaning of this holiday.

There isn’t anyone of us anywhere that hasn’t benefited from the sacrifice of someone in the armed forces over our personal history or that of our countries.  Men and Women who simply gave their lives so that we could live.  It’s as simple as that.

I urge you to do as I will today…take a moment today and just think about those that have made that actual sacrifice, and thank them.
