There are quite a few domain tools out there lately. Tools that help you find domains to register, or domains to buy at auction, or maybe even to find keyword phrases that have exact match domains available (an increasingly RARE thing, where the keyword phrase is exactly the same as the domain name). They’re all lovely and perform a service, but…like Keyword Research…the domain component of IMeye is a bit different! Here’s our take on a what a “good” domain is. Does that domain currently (or in the VERY recent past) actually rank for a some kind of keyword phrase ALREADY ? If it does…then you can grab a domain that has INSTANT traffic.
Competition levels ? Don’t care, these domains ALREADY rank!
Exact Match ? Don’t care!
.org. .net, .com, etc. ? Don’t care
In fact, we don’t care about ANYTHING at all…except…what kind of traffic does this keyword phrase get…the one that this domain already ranks for ? If it’s a nice chunk of traffic, and it’s something we could monetize with an affiliate offer of some kind…then we want that domain! Getting it can build an instant profitable little business.
So how does IMeye work with domains ?
It’s VERY simple. For each keyword phrase (and we have 4.5 million now!), we store the top 10 sites in Google’s organic search for a normal search (we call that a broad search where the user simply enters the keyword phrase into Google…this is how most searches are done by real people) and we store the top 10 sites in Google’s organic search for a phrase match search (this is where you put your keyword phrase in “quotes”). We store the broad search for obvious reasons…these sites are instant traffic getters. We store the phrase match, because these sites are poised to be on the first page for broad search. A few backlinks, and you can likely turn a domain you get that ranks for phrase match into a broad match ranking domain. These phrase match domains are often cheaper and easier to get, so they’re well worth looking at!
Every single day we look at these 90 MILLION DOMAINS (4.5 million keywords, and we look at 10 broad match and 10 phrase match domains for each..this is approximate, as there is some duplication there) and we see which ones are expiring soon, expired and ready to register again, or up for auction right now.
People are often surprised that these domains actually become available and can really be obtained. These domains have such incredible value! The fact is…that many people simply don’t know what they have. They don’t even realize they’re ranked, or they’re not doing anything with a site and just forget about it, or they need cash so they auction it off without really realizing the true value. When you’re looking at 90 million domains each day to see if any are available…it’s just a sheer numbers game. You’re going to find a lot of gems!
So, the way to take advantage of IMeye is to just look for great traffic numbers, and domains that are available for either broad or phrase match (don’t check both of these options as it’s an “AND” and it will only return a domain if it is a broad AND a phrase match…which dramatically lowers your domains to look at. Just use them separately.). Then you can click on the domain icon and see what kind of availability that domain has.
Let’s take a look at a real example. One I found this morning, in about 3 minutes…literally.
I looked for traffic first. I like to get at least 3000 monthly searches (exact) OR around 15000 monthly searches (phrase). Try both as you’ll get different domains. Then, all I look for are domains that are available…so I set Domain Matches to “Include all keywords having” (VERY IMPORTANT) and then select either Domains for Sale (phrase match) OR Domains for Sale (broad match). Once again, try both and see what you can find!
This morning, I quickly found the search phrase “ebook software”. It gets over 12,000 monthly exact searches and 33000 phrase match monthly searches, and it seemed like something I could monetize, so…all good on the first step.
Then, I went over to www.semrush.com (free to use) and put the domain in to see where it ranks for keywords (this will not yield as good results for phrase match domains…remember these are more for their potential). Luckily, not only does that domain rank for the term I saw (confirming IMeye’s snapshot of data), BUT, it ALSO ranks for another (almost the same) term that gets double the traffic (ebooks software)
Next I have to find out how I could get the domain. I click on the domain icon (the red or green circle with the exclamation point in the Domain Matches column) to get to our Register Compass interface.
It shows me that it’s available at namejet. I click on the “buy” link and I’m taken over to namejet.
From seeing the namejet information, I can see it’s a domain that’s set to be “released” in a couple of days. So, I have the chance to get it! I can place a “bid” for a back order. Back ordering domains is a bit outside the scope of this blog post, but it allows you to quickly snag it before others can see that it’s expired. Sometimes you’ll see these kinds of availability, other times you’ll be able to simply immediately register a domain, and other times you’ll be able to enter an auction (think eBay!) to buy the domain. IMeye and Register compass look for all of these opportunities.
Now that I’ve confirmed the domain ranks and will get traffic, AND that I could actually get it for (possibly) under $100 (it’s possible you could click on it and it will show an auction for $5,000 or something! simply move on when that happens!). Let’s see how I could monetize it.
I do a google search for ebook software and come up with this site:
It’s a software product that has an affiliate program. There you go..that’s what I’ll sell!
I can obtain that domain and build an affiliate site to promote and send traffic to ebookgold.
An opportunity like this could be worth a LOT. It’s very reasonable to assume that simply getting this domain could result in 100-500 visitors per day who are VERY interested in ebook software. This could mean 1-5 sales per day…easily. At a $33 commission per sale, this opportunity could be worth $12,000 to $60,000 per year.
3 minutes with IMeye, and then a day to put up a really nice affiliate site…to build a business like that?? Oh, and there’s plenty more where that came from AND the domains that are available change EVERY SINGLE DAY.
This is why I laugh when people say IMeye is too expensive, frankly…it’s because they can’t see this. You just get ONE of these kinds of opportunities per year (and this took me 3 minutes…let’s not forget!) and you can get a 600% (and that’s at the 1 sale per day mark!) return on the YEARLY expense of IMeye
Please…use it…let these opportunities just fall right into your lap!

Thanks Steve,
It’s a real help when you make this kind of explanation so we don’t need to be guru’s to understand
Take care / Lars

Thanks for the explanation Steve! It does help clear out the “fog” and help me see how powerful this tool can be in my IM business.

More examples like this would be cool, thank you

Great recap! All of your products are fantastic. The training that comes with them is also great. But, because these products are so comprehensive, it makes training very very difficult! You even mention this in some of your videos. So, when you come out with a “case study” like the one above it realy helps.
Listen - if people (including newbies) would get Nich Blueprint 2.0 and/or Commision Blueprint plus IMEye AND USE THEM it would be hard to not make money. I also use and recommend getting IM Advantage for the use of the many tools and free traffic getting plans! I now it gets expensive but it is all worth it! TAKE THIS ADVISE AND WORK HARD AND YOU WILL MAKE MONEY!!!!!!!

Great post demonstrating the power of IMEye.
Must admit something, i was a subscriber, but cancelled as have a bunch of projects already on my plate and IME was just a huge distraction.
However… This has turned me around.

Definitely need more of this type of “how to use” post. I bought imEye when it came out and haven’t used it yet. It complicates and confuses me. I realise I just need to understand it better just cant find the time to spend with it. I too have a bunch of projects on the go using KWBP and keep telling my self one day I will learn imeye. Think ill make it a priority.

Yes but, those domains are very hard to get and often don’t go for $100 or under, so maybe your argument here, would be a lot more solid to folks if you put up a real, “I got it domain name for under $100″.
Maybe your next post on ones you have done, not just the theory/potential?

Greg - we buy MANY domains…about 100 per month or so on average. You can get domains for under $100 all day long. We do it everyday. Can you get all of them for that…? Nope…but, that’s ok.
June 7th, 2010 at 6:12 pm
Thank you Steve, very well put together, your efforts are really welcomed.
Bought imEye when it came out..use it all the time, read the forum all the time,am a dedicated IMer,so i welcome more examples like this..REALLY THANK YOU!

Wow, crazy. I knew that IMEye is powerful…but seeing it is a different story. Those guys made a hell of a keyword tool and i hope that many marketers and SEOs realize the power of it. Cheers!

Steve,
Yes I too buy lots of domains, but you missed my point.
Show me a real example:
1) Actual domain of high keyword match value
2) Bought for under $100
3) Actual traffic
4) Actual affiliate sales
If you can do this and it doesn’t have to be screen shots just the details and the numbers, so us real people out here, not just no#425987 on your list in aweber, can know that at least this is doable.
Why waffle on about a theoretical situation if from your 100’s of domain purchases you have at least one real example to show us.
Then I will listen to you and may just take up IMEye again.
Otherwise I will echo that for what it can do, it really is too expensive.

Greg,
A few points.
1. I’m not going to argue with you on my own blog. You’re TOTALLY entitled to your own opinion about how much IMeye costs, and you can exercise your vote and not buy it. We have enough subscribers and frankly we priced it in such a way that it would limit membership. In other words we’d rather have 100 users than 1000 users and still bring in the same revenue as it keeps the value for those 100. We can simply agree to disagree as one opportunity found in IMeye can EASILY pay for a whole year’s worth of access. If you don’t believe that from all you’ve seen…then, again…you’re PERFECTLY entitled to your own opinion and I respect it..but of course, disagree with it!
2. We’re WAY beyond having to give away any more of our stuff, sites, niches etc. Our past “proof” and reputation etc. speaks for itself. If that’s not enough for you…then again, I respect your opinion, but disagree…and that’s ok! We have given MANY things “away” over the years and our sales pages are Filled with “proof” etc. We have nothing left to prove by showing more and more and having our core businesses destroyed…because that’s what happens the SECOND I show something we have.
3. Our forum is FILLED and I mean FILLED with people doing VERY well building businesses and making money from ALL our products…CERTAINLY IMeye…so again, there’s plenty of “proof”
Finally, there’s a money back guarantee for crying out loud…
Try it yourself and if you don’t like it…get your money back. Our reputation on support and issuing refunds etc. is SPOTLESS…so there’s no risk there.
Anyway…just to be clear…I welcome your comments, but this is the last “back and forth” on this issue. There are plenty of other places to get into arguments back and forth…I won’t do it on my own blog.

I need to laugh at the people who say IMEye is too expensive.
Simply the fact having a database of 4.5 Mil keywords with all the stats like searches, CPC, competition is worth that amount many times over.
In IM (that’s how see it) every day it’s also about looking for opportunities. A single keyword, a single PLR ebook, a single domain CAN be worth thousands and thousands. I think this where it separates successful entrepreneurs and people who will always struggle: Not being able to see an opportunity even if its right before your face - and unable to recognize value.
Eg. how much is it worth when someone uses IMEye and gets a list of a few hundred (or thousands even) of keywords with low competition and high search volume? This is exactly how i ranked two sites right now (by doing keyword research beforehand)…and guess what…those sites now pay all my bills
June 22nd, 2010 at 4:18 pm
I do not dispute the fact that imeye is an uber powerful tool, and that’s why im willing to pay the membership month after month even when Im not actually using it, I just don’t want to lose my subscription… Stupid you might think, but to me it’s an obviously beneficial investment for my business.
however, I do have 2 questions that I would like to see an answer to.
Is there anyway to sort results to leave out non english keywords?
and secondly, and even more importantly for me, how do we get past the 51 pages per search limit? it seems that it only shows us a very small fraction of the 4.5 Mil keyword database, and I have no idea at what interval it gives you a new set of results based on the same searches.
Obviously some searches will only have a certain number of pages, but there are some searches where it should surely have WAY more than 51 pages… (I think it’s 51 from memory, but haven’t logged in in a few days so..)
Love to see your answers to these functionality questions Steve, thanks for the great software.
Cheers,
Nick

hi Nick Earl “how do we get past the 50 pages per search limit?”
what we do is ;for example; if we are looking for let say phrase
match = all over 15000;we set up parameters
15000 to 20000;go through the key words
20001 to 25000;go through the key words
25001 to 30000;go through the key words
30001 upwards
“sort results to leave out non english keywords?” - this is
very insignificant in number .

I’m finding the stats from the software are WAY inflated over the actual results from the Google keyword tool. And yes, I am looking at global.
For instance, the # 1 keyword shown in your software for my specs was “garmin nvi”. Your system says it has 2.24M global searches.
However, Google’s keyword tool shows 9,900 global monthly searches. So there is a 2M+ discrepency here.
And I’ve been finding this is constantly the case. (high discrepency)
I know you say your results are “a moment in time” from the past 30 days, but I find it hard to believe searches dropped in the past 30 days from 2.24M to 9,900.
What are we to believe in this scenario? IMeye or Google keyword tool?
I’m trying to figure this out as I’ve been a member for a while but am considering a refund if the stats are unreliable.
Thanks,
Scott

I would also like to hear an answer to Scott’s questions above…
Can you guys please clarify these issues?

This tool is very promising. I’ll have to do a little research
